Final preparations for the annual Hemkund Sahib Yatra have been completed, with the revered Gurudwara Sahib at Hemkund beautifully decorated with flowers to welcome the devotees. The first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to leave today for the Ghangaria stop, marking the beginning of this year’s spiritual journey.
Pilgrims embarking on the yatra will not only experience devotion and spiritual fulfillment but also the natural beauty and thrilling landscapes of the Himalayas. As they make their way to Hemkund Sahib, situated at an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet, they will be able to witness panoramic views of surrounding snow-covered peaks and pristine alpine surroundings along the trek route.
It is noteworthy that Uttarakhand Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had earlier flagged off the first jatha (batch) of pilgrims from Rishikesh, extending their blessings and wishing the devotees a safe and meaningful journey.
The Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, in coordination with the Uttarakhand government, has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of the yatris. Essential facilities including medical aid, drinking water, signage, and railings along steep routes have been put in place. Rescue teams and volunteers have also been stationed at key locations to respond swiftly to any emergency.
The pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib, a revered site for the Sikh community, attracts thousands of devotees each year. The 18-kilometer uphill trek from Govindghat to the shrine is seen as both a test of endurance and a journey of faith. With the first batch now on its way, the spiritual atmosphere in the region has already begun to intensify.
