Uttarakhand is fast becoming the go-to destination for filmmakers, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and progressive policies. The recently introduced Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 has sparked a surge in film productions, drawing directors, producers, and creators from across the country.

A Cinematic Paradise

With its snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, dense forests, and historic temples, Uttarakhand offers a diverse backdrop for storytelling. Whether it’s Bollywood blockbusters, regional cinema, or OTT productions, the state provides a visually stunning and versatile setting for all genres.

Government Support & Subsidies

The state government is actively promoting filmmaking through financial incentives and infrastructure development. Under the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024:

  • Subsidies of up to 30% (capped at ₹3 crore) are available for Hindi and other language films.
  • Regional cinema gets a bigger boost, with 50% subsidies (capped at ₹2 crore) for Garhwali, Jaunsari, and Kumaoni films.
  • The single-window clearance system ensures quick approvals, making the process seamless for production houses.
  • Special incentives are available for short films, documentaries, web series, and OTT content.

Infrastructure & Talent Development

The state is also investing in film-related infrastructure, including new theatres, multiplexes, post-production studios, and training institutes. Uttarakhand’s focus on talent, technology, and training is creating a skilled workforce to support the growing film industry.

With improved connectivity, world-class hospitality, and regular visits from industry icons like Prasoon Joshi and Kriti Sanon, Uttarakhand is not just a scenic location—it is a thriving cinematic hub. For filmmakers looking for an unmatched shooting experience, Uttarakhand is ready to roll!
