Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) and Army Intelligence Dehradun have jointly arrested a fraudster posing as an army officer in Dehradun. The accused, identified as Pramod Kumar alias Vasu, son of Anil Kumar from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly cheated numerous youths out of lakhs of rupees under the pretense of recruiting them into the Indian Army.
The action was taken based on confidential information provided by the Army Intelligence unit. A complaint lodged at Patel Nagar police station by one of the victims led to the uncovering of this fraudulent scheme. SSP STF Navneet Singh Bhullar revealed that the accused had been running a well-organized scam, targeting young aspirants eager to join the army.
The accused used his fake identity and detailed knowledge of recruitment procedures to gain the trust of his victims. After collecting hefty amounts as “recruitment fees,” he disappeared without delivering on his promises.
STF has urged others who may have fallen prey to this scam to come forward and file complaints. The joint operation highlights the vigilance and coordination between law enforcement and military intelligence in curbing such frauds. Further investigation is underway.
