In a bid to strengthen the cooperative sector and to organise the International Cooperative Year in 2025, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has asked DMs to constitute MPACS on priority basis. She has asked them to form 601 new Multipurpose Primary Agriculture Cooperatives (MPACS), Dairy, and Fisheries Societies across the state within deadline. She has asked while convening a meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
CS Raturi emphasized the need to develop a Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework for Jhangora, similar to Mandua, to promote local grains. Encouraging the vision of ‘Vocal for Local,’ she also instructed the Cooperative Department to expedite the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the supply of food grains, vegetables, milk, and meat to the SSB and Army.
To boost agricultural growth in border districts, she directed officials to expand millet cultivation on vacant cultivable land in these areas. Additionally, she stressed the importance of engaging more people in events planned for the International Cooperative Year and ensuring local cooperative societies play an active role in organizing conferences, exhibitions, and cultural programs.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Dr. BVRC Purushottam, Additional Secretary Sonika, Manuj Goyal and officials from the Cooperative, Finance, and Food & Supply Departments, along with all District Magistrates.
