BJP has declared name for two remaining Lok Sabha seats of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has given ticket to contest election from Haridwar while Former Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni to contest election from Garhwal Lok sabha seat. With this list BJP has denied the ticket of two former CM and Sitting MP Teerath Singh Rawat and Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. Teerath Singh Rawat was given ticket in general election 2019 and Dr Nishank served the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat since 2014.
Ironically BJP has taken care of caste equation. In Garhwal BJP Has given ticket to Brahmin candidate while in Haridwar they have given ticket to Thakur leader. Ironically Trivendra Singh Rawat has served the state as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in between 2017 to 2021. As we know that Congress has fielded Brahmin candidate from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat so BJP too fielded Brahmin candidate Anil Baluni. Although the seat is known for Thakur dominating seat.
It would be pertinent to mention here that Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri had represented the seat during Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime. Even he had won the seat during General election 2014. Due to health condition party had placed Tirath Singh Rawat during general election 2019. This Lok sabha constituency spread in five districts of uttarakhand including one assembly seats of Kumaon region i.e. Ramnagar which comes under Nainital district.
