SS Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar appointed as Election Commissioner

Two Ex-IAS i.e. former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar has been appointed as new commissioner of Election Commission of India. Their name has been cleared by the Panel, which is being led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today.

It would be pertinent to mention here that Sandhu has served the Uttarakhand as chief secretary and as secretary of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) too. Recently one election commission got retired and another has tendered his resignation. In this circumstances both posts of Election commissioner lying vacant. As we know that nation is going to face general election 2024. For this election commission may announce date any given point of time. Before this appointment of election commissioner was necessary. Now a panel led by Prime Minister has cleared both ex IAS officers name.

Another Ex IAS Gyanesh Kumar is Kerala cadre officer and both belong to 1988 batch IAS. They are having vast experience of administration
