Air connectivity improves, Air ambulance service available in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand’s air connectivity has improved in the last five years. Earlier people have to travel uttarakhand by train or bus. Now people can travel hilly areas in few hours because of air service availablity. Now Pantnagar Airport has become operational & convert into an international airport. The process of occupying 804 acres of land is underway & will be completed in 3 years.

This has made tourists including people life more easy. Due to this more and more tourists are visiting hilly areas of the state. Now they don’t need to come to Dehradun’s Jollygrant Airport. Pantnagar Airport will take them closer to tourist destinations such as Almora, Nainital, Auli, Tehri, Kausani, etc. All these destinations are much in demand among tourists but they are unable to spend sufficient time at these places due to less time & lack of air connectivity.

To address tourists and locals problem & to boost tourism, government has started helicopter service in Haldwani, Munsiyari, Pithoragarh & Champawat. Although these heli- services being run as pilot project but if successful, similar heli-service will be started in all 13 districts of the state. This will not only boost tourism, but will also help in providing employment to the local people as construction & maintenance of heliports will require manpower. He also shared his plans to extend helicopter service to other tourist destinations like Trijuginarayan and Lansdowne.

These heli-services will also be available during natural disaster like earthquake & forest-fire, to evacuate people to safer areas. These services will also be helpful during medical emergency, specially to airlift seriously ill or seriously injured patients and transfer them to well-equipped hospitals such as AIIMS Rishikesh, Himalayas Institute Jolly & other such multi-speciality hospitals of Dehradun.
