DAINIK NATION BUREAU : The Congress party has vehemently opposed to China’s inclusion of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin in its latest map. Congress asserting that these regions are integral parts of India and cannot be altered by any arbitrary representation or unauthorized map from a “habitual offender.” The party has called upon the government to utilize the upcoming G20 Summit to bring China’s transgressions into Indian territory to the forefront on the global stage.
This response from the Congress follows China’s official release of its “standard map” for 2023, which incorporates Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin, Taiwan, and the disputed South China Sea. The party’s President, Mallikarjun Kharge, underscored that Indian territories, including Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin, are undeniably and inseparably linked to India, and no concocted Chinese map can alter this reality.
In a statement, Kharge stated, “China is well-known for habitually renaming and redrawing maps of territories belonging to other countries. The Indian National Congress vehemently opposes any such illicit representation or renaming of India’s territories.”
Another Congress leader and Lok Sabha member, Manish Tewari, echoed Kharge’s sentiments, emphasizing that China’s claims on Arunachal Pradesh are baseless and historically inaccurate. He urged the government to reflect upon and reclaim Indian territories that have been encroached upon by China through recent transgressions.
Tewari pointedly stated, “China’s assertions about Arunachal Pradesh are nonsensical, illogical, and historically erroneous. China has no legitimate claim over Arunachal Pradesh.”
The Congress leaders also brought attention to the ongoing issue of the India-China border dispute, highlighting that China has unlawfully occupied Indian territory since April 2020. Tewari called on the government to reclaim the approximately 2000 square kilometers of territory that China has unlawfully seized.
Tewari also urged the Indian government to reconsider the importance accorded to Xi Jinping in Delhi, given his involvement in the illegal occupation of Indian land.
While advocating for peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries, including China, Kharge expressed disappointment at China’s persistence in deception and aggression, particularly after the Galwan incident. He stressed that restoring the status quo ante before May 2020 should be paramount, and the government must stand firm on this demand.
Kharge concluded by expressing hope that the upcoming G20 Summit in India would provide an opportunity to spotlight China’s territorial encroachments on the global platform. He emphasized that the Modi government should work to put an end to China’s illegal occupation of Indian land along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
India has consistently maintained that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the country and will remain so. As tensions persist, the Congress party’s response reflects the nation’s determination to safeguard its territorial integrity and uphold its sovereign rights.
