On the streets of Uttarakhand, now diesel vehicles that are more than 15 years old will not be allowed on the lines of Delhi. The Uttarakhand Environment and Pollution Control Board (PCB) has sent the proposal to the government to stop the growing pollution on the directions of the NGT, which has been sent to the Center after the approval of the state government. The final decision has to be taken from the center on this.
In the first phase, only commercial vehicles will be closed. Given the critical situation of pollution, these rules will be applicable only in Dehradun, Haridwar, Kashipur and Rishikesh. After this, commercial diesel vehicles will be phased out from other cities.
Action plan ready
PCB has prepared an air action plan to prevent pollution in these cities. Under which 15-year old commercial diesel vehicles were proposed to be closed. After the state government’s approval, the action plan has been sent to the center, from where the decision will be taken to close the vehicle.
