The proposal to seek suggestion from the public to shift the Nainital High Court has received a strong protest from the advocates. Condemning this move strongly in the General Assembly meeting of the High Court Bar Association, who took the representation in this regard.
Association’s general secretary Jayawardene Kandpal termed the seeking of public opinion without first taking the association into confidence as unfortunate. Former General Secretary Durga Singh Mehta said that the Kaushik Samiti has given report to make Gairsain a permanent capital, and till date it has not become a permanent capital. Unconscious confusion is being spread in the High Court case. Former Chairman Nadeem Moon said that for the first time the constitutional institution took unconstitutional steps. He said that those who want to go to the plains should go to Allahabad.
Advocate PS Saun said that he will give his life but will not let the High Court shift. Former Secretary TS Fartyal said that the High Court was made a political office, it should be condemned. He said that if it is necessary to shift then Chamoli, Pithauragarh, Uttarkashi should be the locations. Senior advocate Pushpa Joshi said that giving a representation to the High Court shift is a bad mentality. Yogesh Pancholia said that Nainital is the only state-level institution established in the mountains. Talking about its shifting is an insult to the martyrs of the state movement.
