On the occasion of Human Rights Day, a meeting of all the officers and employees in the presence of members of the Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission was held at Uttarakhand Commission office on Monday, in which everyone took the pledge to remain committed and work hard for the human rights protection. On this occasion, several litigants were also present. With the Commission getting committed towards the human rights, today disputes were heard specially and suo moto cognizance of 05 disputes was taken and the instructions were issued on 12 new disputes.
While highlighting the importance of Human Rights Day, Hon’ble member Justice Akhilesh Chand Sharma, while throwing light on the Human Rights Day, said that in the state from January 2018 to November 2018, 2090 cases were registered, out of which 1434 cases were settled. In this period taking suo moto cognizance of 355 cases, Commission ensure that victims get the compensation. Effective recommendations regarding the inmates in the jail and about the food and health were made. Hon’ble Member of the Commission Dr. Hemlata Dhaundiyal expressed views that in the last four years, commendable work has been done by the Commission for the protection of human rights, in which police atrocities, environmental damage and crime against women have been taken in particular. The beneficial results of which have emerged because of which awareness about human rights in the general public is visible. All the officials and employees were administered oath to work with devotion for the protection of the human rights.
