Uttarakhand’s dream of hosting the National Games has been completed. Indian Olympic Association has stamped the hosting of 2020 National Games in the state. Uttarakhand was selected among the three states to for hosting the games. Indian Olympic Association has also decided to give a chance to Chhattisgarh and Mizoram to host the games in the coming years.
In 2019, there was a complete preparation for organizing national sports in the state, but at some point the Indian Olympic Association handed over the hosting of national games to Goa. After this, the state Olympic Association and the state government started preparations for national games in 2020. Although, with the Uttarakhand, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh were also vying to host the 2020 National Games.
Officials of the three states had reached the meeting of the General Body of the Indian Olympic Association to be held in Delhi for hosting. Sports secretary Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh and sports director Pratap Sah had arrived from the state to participate in this meeting. The sports secretary kept the state’s preparedness in the meeting of the Olympic Association. After this, the General Body of the Olympic Association chose Uttarakhand to organize 2020 National Games.
