Former chief minister and Udhamsinghnagar MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari had reclaimed that Naini saini airport would be operational shortly because technical glitches have been identified and would be addressed shortly. As we know that Trivendra Singh Rawat led Uttarakhand government had claimed that their government started regular flight between Dehradun to Naini saini airport in October. Now government is saying that technical hurdle has been identified. With this declaration one thing is clear that air service would begin shortly from Naini saini airport.
On October 8, a flight had landed at Naini saini airport as a trial. A day later another flight landed there in the presence of minister of state for textile Ajay Tamta, state BJP president Ajay Bhatt and Udhamsinghnagar MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Then Minister and officers had claimed that Airport Authority of India has issued license for this. Thereafter it was told that four buildings have come up near Naini Saini airport which is why Civil Aviation department has not issued licesne. Even officials of Air Traffic control (ATC), fire service and other staff left the airport.
With this development state government had to face embarassment. Meanwhile they got busy in urban local bodies election. On December 3, former CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari sought details from Pithorgarh
DM C Ravishankar and asked him to make physical verification of the building. Later Koshyari said that due to few buildings naini saini airport yet to be operational. Although he assured that this would be sorted out shortly because district administration have discussed with the buildings owner too.
