Gov announces grant of Rs two lakh

DAINIK NATION BUREAU

Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya has instructed the State Child Welfare Council to identify the needy students studying in government schools and help them.

Governor Mrs Baby Rani Maurya gave a grant of Rs. two lakh to State Child Welfare Council for orphaned students studying in government schools. She gave the fund from her own discretionary fund. This information was given by Mr R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary to the Governor.

Governor said that upbringing and education of orphaned children is the responsibility of the society and State Child Welfare Council has an important role to play in it. She further said that the education of such children should not be affected due to paucity of funds as every child has the right to dream big and make efforts to achieve them.

The State Child Welfare Council has also been advised to hold programmes which could provide awareness to children regarding environment protection, cleanliness, health and energy saving. Such awareness programmes will help make them better citizens, she added.
