Mercury plummeted in Uttarakhand after fresh snowfall in high reaches of Kedarnath, badrinath, hemkund sahib and pithoragarh districts and rain in some parts of the state on Wednesday night,
the Meteorological department said.
According to metereological department snowfall and rains are good for the orchard especially apple.
Similarly high reaches of Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh also received fresh snowfall. Exact data of snowfall in these areas was not available.
The minimum temperature in Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri have settled below the freezing point, the Met Centre said.
