A morning walker was killed by an elephant here on Wednesday, the police said.

Eyewitness said an elephant chased the 54-year-old  Virendra Singh. Although he tried to flee but failed and trampled by the pachyderm.

The body was discovered by others who were also on a morning walk. The victim was an employee of  BHEL.
The BHEL colony had off and on suffered attacks by elephants and last year two persons were killed, the police said. The police said forest department officials had been asked to hunt the elephant and take it to the forest from where it had strayed into the colony.
