BRO uses new technology to save environment

BRO (Border Roads Organization) is making efforts to minimize the damage to environment by using new technological in the construction of roads in the state. With this, special emphasis is being given on plantation and environmental protection. Remnant material (waste debris etc.) in the construction of roads is being re-used on priority. Environmental standards are being given top priority by BRO in the construction of roads.

Under the Bharatmala project, work is being done in this direction after getting approval for connectivity upto the borders of China at a cost of Rs 18,000 crores. The Bharatmala project includes the Baijnath-Tharali-Karnaprayag Route, Ascot-Dharchula-Malpa-Lipulekh Route, Baijnath-Bageshwar-Kapkot-Munsyari-Seraghat- Jauljibi Route, Mana-Musa Paani-Mana Pass and Joshimath-Malari Route. Border Roads Organization has expressed gratitude to the government and administration for speed approval, forest clearance, land acquisition and related matters and positive cooperation for the construction of roads in the state.

Director General of Border Roads Organization Lt. Gen. Harpal Singh discussed in detail with the Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat on various points related to the construction of border roads of the state during a meeting held at Secretariat on Monday. During the discussion, Chief Minister assured to consider seriously the request of additional 20 acres of land for the project headquarter of Border Roads Organization on Haridwar road. Chief Minister also issued instructions for quick disposal of land acquisition, forest clearance and other matters of BRO.

Chief Minister said that road connectivity in border areas and villages in the state is very sensitive and important from strategic point of view. Army also gets vital information related to strategic and country security from border villagers. He talked about extending all possible cooperation to the Border Roads Organization by the state government.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Om Prakash and senior officers of BRO were present.
