Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat participated as a chief guest at the passing out parade of 11 th Basic Recruitment Training Course at Central Training Centre of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Srinagar, Pauri on Saturday. Reviewing the parade, Chief Minister termed the increased participation of women in the armed forces in national interest. He said that the number of women in forces is increasing thereby realizing the slogan of “Beti Bachao –Beti Padho’. He also presented trophies to the recruits who did excellent during their training period.
In his address, CM said that it was historic day for the jawans and day of honour for all of us for being proud of our armed forces. He always look forward to attend such programmes. He said that it was a matter of honour of us and the para-military force that men and womenfrom Jammu & Kashmir after taking specialized training are returning back. They have come from Srinagar of J&K to Srinagar of Garhwal and the gap between the two Srinagars has been bridged by them. While Srinagar is the capital of J&K, Srinagar, Garhwal was earlier a capital. He said that Kashmir is known as the crown of India.
Congratulating the family members of the trainees, he said that he salutes the families who have pledged their children for the service of the country. Tthe country is strong since the armed forces are strong. He said that youth of the border areas are going back after taking training which would make our borders stronger. The responsibility of protecting the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders is with SSB. He said that besides border protection, SSB is also undertaking other responsibilities with devotion. The SSB had also played its role in maintaining law and order during holding of peaceful elections in different states in the past years. The sense of security developed by SSB in the borders areas is appreciable, he added.
He said that the SSB besides making the Indo-Nepal ties stronger, has contributed towards social cohesion and development and ignited positive energy amongst youth of the area.
He expressed hope that their basic training and skills learnt during their training would not only protect the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders and also make their force proud. He said that the natural and beautiful surroundings of ‘Devbhoomi’ during their training must have inspired them. He also congratulated all the trainees DIG and IG of the SSB and said that sentinels of security of the country are made during these specialized trainings.
He gave away trophies to Hitendra Kumar, Doli Devi, Suman Lata, Qamar Iqbal and Shubam Verma for their excellent performance during training. The oath of unity and sovereignty of the country was administered to the trainees. The SSB jawans showed band drill, march past and their horse riding skills on the occasion. He also released a book titled “Devbhoomi” written by the trainees. Devprayag legislator Vinod Kandari, Karanprayag Legislator Surinder Singh Negi, District Magistrate Sushil Kumar, IG SSB Prem Swaroon Singh Negi, SSB officials and other dignitaries were present on the occasion
