On Uttarakhand being conferred the first ranking in the country in terms of maximum construction of roads and second ranking in the country in terms of connecting habitations for the year 2017-18, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has congratulated the officers and employees of the concerned departments. Chief Minister said that working like this with the spirit of the team of Uttarakhand, we have to make Uttarakhand as the best state in the country. In this, government, administration, various institutions and all citizens of the state have to work together. He hoped that other departments of the state will also work in similar manner.

Notably, on September 11 at a programme organised by the Union Rural Development Ministry at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Uttarakhand stands first in the country in terms of maximum construction of 1839 km roads against the targets of 1500 km for the year 2017-18 and second in the country in terms of 207 habitations connected against the target of 172 habitations. The citation and award was given by the Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav and Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India Amarjit Sinha. They appreciated this initiative of the state. Citation and awards were received by the Chief Engineer, Uttarakhand Rural Road Development Agency (URRDA) on behalf of Uttarakhand State in the function held at Vigyan Bhawan.
