On the occasion of Himalaya Day Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat have  called upon the people of the state to contribute towards the conservation of the Himalayas.

She said that conserving the Himalayas was important for our survival. The Himalayas were not just a mountain chain  but the centre of our culture and civilization. We should all play a role in the collective responsibility which we have towards the Himalayas, along with the efforts being made by the government. Schools, colleges and social institutions must play their role in this.

Himalayan region was rich in medicinal plants and along with using these, we must also enhance and preserve them. Plastics and polythene should not be used in the Himalayan areas. Rivers and water sources need to be protected, Environment-friendly practices must be adopted to conserve the Himalayas.

CM said that Himalaya is related to the concerns of our life. Chief Minister said that the Himalaya affects not only India but also the vast population of the world. Our culture is also influenced by the Himalaya. Himalaya preservation is essential for human life. Himalaya is also a symbol of purity. It is both our future and our heritage. The concept of Ganga cannot be thought without Himalaya. Himalayas reinforced entire India with its rivers and climate. It is also clear from the faith of millions of people towards the Ganga and Yamuna.
