UJVNL to produce power form baggass

The Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam will produce electricity from ‘baggass “ from Bazpur, Nadehi and Kiccha sugar mills. The Nigam will give power royalty to these sugar mills. The Nigam will also undertake the modernization of these mills. This decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh.

 It was informed in the meeting that UJVNL will under the work to produce electricity from “baggass’ on built, operate and own basis. Bazpur sugar mill will produce 22 MW whil Nadehi and Kiccha sugar mills will produce 16 MW of power each. The UJVNL has completed the survey work of the project. Apart from “Baggass” other bio-mass will also be used for power generation. Ethanol will be produced from Doiwala sugar mill under Government of India scheme.  The distillery and sugar mill will be run side by side.

Principal Secretary MSME Manisha Panwar, Secretary Power Radhika Jha, Secretary Sugarcane Indudhar Boudai, Additional Secretary Pradeep Rawat and other officers were present in the meeting
