In the case of NH 74 compensation scam case, the Trivendra Singh Rawat government took a big action. Two IAS officers Pankaj Pandey and Chandresh Kumar Yadav involved in the NH 74 case have been suspended.
It is worth mentioning that a huge compensation scam had surfaced during the widening of National Highway 74 passing through Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district.
Initial investigation revealed that land-use had been changed to increase the compensation amount. In this regard, eight PCS have been named as the first accused after the inquiry done at the commissioner level. Seven of them are running suspended while one has retired.
This investigation was then handed over to the SIT. The SIT also briefly said that in its investigation report sent to the government, the involvement of two IAS officers in the scam was found for first time. IAS Pankaj Pandey and IAS Chandresh Yadav were in the role District Magistrate during this period in Udham Singh Nagar District as the Arbitrator .
