With this, Neeraj broke his own national record.

Neeraj also threw the Javelin 86.36 meters in the fourth throw. He fouled in the 5th throw, but he was far ahead of the other opponents, due to which there was not much difference. After Milkha Singh, Neeraj is the second such athlete who has won gold medal in Commonwealth and Asian Games in the same year. Neeraj’s feat is also special because India never won gold in Javelin. Gurtej Singh won the last medal in Javelin in 1982. In those games in Delhi, Gurtej had a bronze. But Neeraj everyone behind today.

So far, India has won 41 medals in the 18th Asian Games. With 8 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze medals, India is 9th in the medal table.
