Heavy rains in Uttarakhand disrupt Chardham Yatra routes

In Uttarakhand’s mountainous districts, rain is bringing disaster. Yamuna river has become a raging torrent after the cloud burst in Yamunotri Dham. During this, the bridge connecting the five shops, a Dharamsala and the Yamunotri temple was washed away. The Meteorological Department has warned of further rains in Uttarakhand. At the same time, the Char Dham Yatra route, is closed at different places due to landslides. The incident is about two o’clock in the night. With heavy rain, and cloud burst, five shops near Yamunotri Dham were swept away in Yamuna. At the same time, a part of the Kali Kamli Dharamshala also got swept away. However, there is no harm to the temple premises. During this time pilgrims along with the shopkeepers stayed who stayed in Yamunotri went to safe places and saved their lives. There is no information about any loss of life at the moment. At the same time, the temporary bridge to the temple was also swept away. The SDRF team reached Yamunotri from Janaki Chatti. At the same time, the Yamunotri highway was closed by landslide near Dabarkot. Gangotri highway near Thiranga was also closed due to landslide.
On Monday night in Yamunotri Dham, there were 40 priests, shopkeepers, and employees, including 11 pilgrims. The team of SDRF is taking 11 people to Janaki Chatti. Kedarghati in the mountainous area is also experiencing torrential rains since about two o’clock in the night. Rudraprayag Gaurikund Marg got blocked from the landslide near Phata, Banswara and Dolia Devi temple. In many places the stones are falling on the road. 11 rural link roads are closed in Pauri district.
The rain starting from midnight in Chamoli district stopped at 7.00 in the morning. Badrinath Highway is closed from the landslide in Lambbad, Radang band, Hanuman chatti. At the same time, the journey to Hemkund is going on smooth. Power supply in Gopeshwar Joshimath and Ghat area was stalled due to a breakdown of the 66 KV power line between Karnprayag and Nandprayag.
