Bus swept away by rain water in Haldwani; passengers safely rescued

Due to continuous torrential rains, the rivers are overflowing their banks. On Monday morning, at around 7:30 in the morning a 28-seater bus started flowing in one such seasonal river canal in the rainy season of Haldwani’s Chorglia. During this time the passengers were saved in some way. It was told that a bus from Roadways was going to Tankpur from Haldwani. It was loaded with passengers. It is being reported that the intoxicated driver drove the bus into the seasonal canal despite the passengers warning.

During this time the bus started flowing in a strong downstream. On this, police personnel and locals standing for protection on the banks of the river saved all the passengers sitting in the bus. After that, the bus was swept away in the drain. According to the locals, the Asani nala had a flash flood due to rainwater percolating from the hills. The police has taken the bus driver into custody.
