Uttarakhand’s Badminton player Lakshya Sen created history in the Asian Junior Badminton Championships-2018 held in Jakarta. Sen defeated Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand 21-19 and 21-19 in the singles event in straight sets. He thus became the first Indian to win the final of the Asian Junior Badminton Championships.
On Saturday, the semi-finals of the Asian Junior Badminton Championship were held between India’s Lakshya Sen and Ikhshan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay of Indonesia. In the match, Lakshya Sen managed to keep an edge on the opponent’s dash while showing aggressive game. Sendefeated Rumbay by a 21-7, 21-14 scoreline and entered the final.
Today, the final match took place between Lakshya Sen and Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand. Sen won the title by defeating Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-19 and 21-19 in straight sets. Lakshya is also the captain of the Indian team in the competition. Lakshya Sen hails from Uttarakhand’s Almora district.
