The anti-encroachment task force, which has been removing encroachment along Haridwar Road and Gandhi Road, will remove encroachments from footpath and lanes too. This was disclosed by the Additional Chief Secretary Omprakash on Monday.
On July 2, 44 illegal encroachments were demolished by 364 workers apart from which a total of 305 encroachments were identified by 1093 workers and a building was sealed. Padmawati Nursing Home which was being run in a residential building was sealed.
He said that following on the instruction of high court the demolition drive is being conducted on the main roads of the city and will later be conducted in the lanes and footpaths. Thereafeter they will remove encroachments from along the banks of the Rispana river. Acknowledging that the number of encroachments is considerably high in the city, he said that efforts are being made to complete the demolition drive within the four-week timeline as directed by the high court.
The demolition of encroachments at Jogiwala Chowk and nearby areas, Raipur and Sahastradhara main road under the purview of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun will also be undertaken in a phased and time-bound manner.
Further, the authorities will also undertake the demolition of encroachments in the Dalanwala area and lanes of Paltan Bazaar.
