In a meeting organized by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on the occasion of second anniversary of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Uttarakhand was conferred an award under ‘DISHA’ for doing commendable work by the Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. On behalf of the State Government, the award was received by Additional Commissioner of Rural Development Department of Uttarakhand Dr. RS Pokhriyal.
Under ‘DISHA’, along with Uttarakhand, the Union Ministry of Rural Development also conferred award to four other states – Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mizoram. On this occasion, the Union Minister also launched the ‘DISHA’ Dash-Board. In future, the proceedings of all the meetings related to ‘DISHA’ will be uploaded in the dash-board and the instructions given in the previous meeting will also be reviewed. Union Minister Tomar said that under the ‘DISHA’, the states organizing more than four meetings in the districts will be awarded.
It is noteworthy that under ‘DISHA’ – for the effective and timely development of districts and for fulfilling the objectives of ensuring better coordination between elected members of the Parliament, State Legislative Assemblies and Local Government (Panchayati Raj Institutions /Municipal Bodies), District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees have been constituted. Under ‘DISHA’, the meetings held at the state level are chaired by the Chief Minister and quarterly meetings of the districts are presided over by MPs.
On this occasion, Minister of State for Rural Development, Ram Kripal Yadav and representatives from other states were present.
