Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the preparations of the International Yoga Day, in New Delhi on Thursday. Along with it, the Chief Secretary apprised the Prime Minister about the apprised the Prime Minister about the progress of Kedarnath reconstruction work. Regarding the mass yoga performance being organized in Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, the Chief Secretary said that online and offline registration work has been started. Various organising committees have been constituted. As many as 1000 buses have been arranged to bring people to venue and take them back. Route chart has been prepared. A control room has been set up at the IRDT. Two weeks training is being conducted at different places in Dehradun and Haridwar. On Thursday, the Curtain Raiser program was organised. A large number of yoga Guru and dignitaries participated in this.
Regarding reconstruction of Sri Kedarnath, the Chief Secretary apprised that the temple platform has been expanded from 1500 square meters to 4125 square meters. An open sight of the temple is visible from 270 meter away from confluence site of Mandakini and Saraswati River. The width of this route has been made 50 meters. On both sides of the route, ducts are being made for the cable and drainage.
A security wall of 470 meters on the Saraswati river and 380 meters on Mandakini river is being constructed. Regarding the reconstruction of Garudchatti pedestrian track, the cutting work of 3.5 kilometer and 700 meter surface improvement work has been completed. At present, widening of the only pedestrian route from Gaurikund via Lincholi to Kedarnath has been completed.
Regarding Sri Kedarnath website shrikedarnathcharitabletrust.uk.gov.in has been launched. Chief Secretary informed that after selecting the meditation site at approximately 150 meters height from Mandakini’s right bank, the construction work has been started. Kedarnath mobile app has been developed on the significance of the Sri Kedarnath Dham. Free WiFi facility is being provided at all Kedarpuri and stops. For this ten sector antennas have been installed. GMVN has started digital transaction. With support of Gujarat Government, 6 tonne rubber matte has been received from Alang (Gujarat) Ship Breaking Yard. To facilitate passengers, rubber mats have been laid at different places.
Chief Secretary apprised the Prime Minister that there is enthusiasm among the devotees from the open courtyard of Sri Kedannath temple. This time record number of pilgrims are reaching Sri Kedarnath Dham. In the past years, the number of pilgrims, who used to come during the entire Yatra season, that much pilgrims have already come till now. Till now, more than 5.5 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at Sri Kedarnath.
