The Uttarakhand High Court has banned vehicles from carrying iron sheets, iron rods or any protruding material beyond the body frame, till the Uttarakhand Government frame its own rules prohibiting their transport.
It also slammed those using cell phones while driving and directed the state government to ensure motorists compulsorily wear the ISI-marked helmets. A Division Bench directed the government to ensure the licenses of the offenders were cancelled and a fine of Rs 5000 imposed on them. It also ordered the Uttarakhand government to ensure driving licenses are not issued to minors and they are kept off from driving the vehicles
