2 dead in rain cause landslides in Pithorgarh

Landslides caused by rain has killed two people in Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. A man from Samkot who was in the Khari, came to pull out a dead body from a gorge died due to stones falling from the hill. At the same time, due to heavy rains in Madkot, a man fell into a ditch when his foot slipped and he died.

In Uttarakhand these days the weather is changing with monsoon just round the corner. Rain and sharp storms are showing their effects in the hills. There was a dead body in a gorge in Samkot village of Munsiyari. On seeing it, the villagers took it upon themselves to remove the body. Jasmal Singh (35) son Bahadur Singh was also present with them. When Jasmal was returning home after the body was removed, the stones suddenly fell down due to landslides on the mountain which hit him and he died.

In another incident, Dharm Singh (58), a resident of Umata village, Bansyaani tehsil, went to Madkot market to buy home goods on Monday.  When Singh was going to the village on foot, suddenly it rained and he fell into a deep ditch when his foot slipped. On Tuesday, when some people took the jungle to feed their pets, they looked at the dead body lying in a trench.
