In view of upcoming India-Bangladesh T 20 match slated for the first week of June, BCCI officials visited Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun to review the facilities available at the stadium.
BCCI officials had a close look at the playing field and other allied facilities at the stadium in Dehradun. They also oversaw other logistical arrangements available at the stadium, besides inspecting the main pitch. They also went around the practicing areas.
The BCCI officials also gave necessary directions to the stadium staff wherever necessary. They spent considerable time inspecting the lightning arrangements as these matches would be a day-and-night affairs.
Sources said that the officials were more or less satisfied with the infrastructure at the stadium. The BCCI officials’ visit to the newly constructed Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium holds immense important as the stadium will be witnessing T20 clashes between Afghanistan and Bangladesh team next month. Mayank Parik, who is Manager Logistics at the BCCI led the inspection.
In all, three T 20 matches will be played between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Afghanistan team is expected to arrive in Dehradun at May end and would be playing number of practice matches. Bangladesh team would also be coming to Dehradun in June. The players will practice for a day before the T 20 matches take place between the two teams.
A team of ICC officials are now also expected to visit the stadium shortly. The first international cricket stadium of Uttarakhand, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium was inaugurated in 2016. Since then it has been awaiting an international match. The residents of Uttarakhand are also anxiously awaiting the match as it will be first such international cricket match in the state
