Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat met the representatives of the Apparel (Textile) Export Promotion Council, Government of India at the secretariat here on Monday. He emphasized on promoting the textile industry in the state as well as focus on greater job creation in the region. He further said that the state government plan to encourage such small industries in mountain areas and increase the per capita income in the hilly region so that more employment opportunities are created in the state. He said that small units of textile industry can be established in such areas.
A MoU between the Uttarakhand Government and the Apparel Training and Designing Center (ATDC) for Kashipur Fashion Design Center was agreed upon which will be signed soon. The skill development department will conduct several programmes for developing skills as per the requirement of the textile industry in the design center.
Apparel (textile) Export Promotion Council members also discussed establishing units in the field of garments. The Chief Minister instructed officers examine all things necessary for the establishment of Apparel (textiles) units in the state
Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Manisha Panwar, Secretary Amit Negi, Saujanya, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey AEPC and ATDC chairman HKL Magu, ATDC General Manager Gopal Krishan Bhasin, AEPC additional Secretary General V. Anil Kumar, industry director Sudhir Nautiyal were present.
