Power department JE nabbed for accepting Rs 10000 bribe

A trap team of vigilance department’s sleuths on Thursday arrested a junior engineer of state power department for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor in lieu of clearing his bills.
The accused engineer, Subodh Negi, who was posted at Chilkiya sub-station in Ramnagar area of Nainital district was caught red handed by the vigilance team while taking the bribe at his office.

A private contractor filed the complaint with the vigilance department on April 16 stating that he carried out power line maintenance work in 2017 and submitted the bills in the power department for his payment. Despite numerous requests, junior engineer Subodh Negi was not passing his bills, instead he demand a bribe of Rs 10,000 for clearing his payment. He then filed a complaint with the vigilance department.
