Ganga to be made pollution free by 2020

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat while addressing a function organised by an electronic channel at Haridwar Road has said that Ganga in Uttarakhand will be completely pollution free by the year 2020.

He said that the state government is sensitive to the issue of displaced people of the proposed Pancheshwar dam project. The government has directed the private medical colleges to withdraw the fee increase and no college will be allowed to act in an arbitrary manner. The University Act will be improved in the coming time if the need arises. On the issue of directive to introduce NCERT books in schools, he said that the NCERT’s books are available in sufficient quantities and academic session will not be affected due to shortage of books and assured that all the students will receive books on time. He said that DBT would also be implemented for the purpose. He reiterated the resolve of his government for overall development of the state.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister  said that the state Government is working on a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. The government has taken strict action against corrupt officials in the National Highway 74 Land scam, scandals of bogus certificates of teachers and food scam. He said that investigations are still on and action would be taken against guilty corrupt officials.

Chief Minister Rawat further said the state government is giving more emphasis on self-employment of women. They are being given training in making LED bulbs and are also being motivated to create readymade garments and other equipment’s to start their own enterprise for economic empowerment.

He said that 625 women Self-help groups are working to make products based on indigenous products and distributed as ‘Prasad’ at various temples of the state. There is immense tourism potential in ‘Devbhoomi’ Uttarakhand and to promote tourism, the state Government has introduced “ 13 New Tourist destinations, 13 District Scheme”  and has targeted to develop 5000 homestays in the state till 2020.

The Chief Minister said that farmers are being encouraged towards agriculture and horticulture and with the increase in demand of organic food, organic farming is being promoted for which state has received funds from the central government center. He said that Kedarpuri is being made hi-tech and agriculture, self-employment and education are major priority areas of the state government.
