17 year old student of CJM school found hanging at home; police investigation on

A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in IT Park in Rajpur police station limits on Thursday. The girl, Arundhati Kumar, was a student of class 10 at Convent of Jesus and Mary School and her board examinations were ongoing. No suicide note was recovered from the room, said police. According to R K Farswan, circle officer (CO), Rajpur, “The girl was found hanging in her room by the parents when they reached home after work in the evening. She had been alone in the house.”

The CO said that it was no clear why the girl took the extreme step. Police have not ruled out that the girl may have been under stress due to her exams. The girl’s father works at Ordnance Factory while her mother is a teacher.
