Budget session to be held at Gairsain

The first session of Uttarakhand assembly for the year 2018 would be convened at Bharadisain near Gairsain in Chamoli district from March 20. The Secretary Vidhan Sabha, Jagadish Chandra issued notification for the session on Thursday after the approval of the state Governor Krishan Kant Paul.

The budget session would start on March 20 with the address of the Governor at 11 am. The state government would table ordinances in the house on March 21. On March 22, the Finance Minister Prakash Pant would place the budget for financial year 2018-19.

The house would hold general discussions on budget on March 23. After holiday of Saturday and Sunday members of the state assembly would continue deliberations on budgetary provisions on March 26. The vote on account would also be sought from the house on the day. After that appropriation bill would be passed after discussions on March 27. The session is slated to end on March 28.

Meanwhile, the Trivendra Singh Rawat government has decided to take the opinion of the general public and inculcate them in the state budget. The Chief Minister would visit six places in different areas of the state and seek public opinion for the upcoming budget. For this purpose the state government has finalized a programme titled ‘Your Budget Your Opinion’. As per the programme the CM would be among the farmers in Yamunotri on February 13 to know their views and suggestions on budget. Under the programme Rawat will meet women at Pithoragarh. Later he will meet farmers in Haridwar, discus budget suggestions with ex servicemen at Haldwani, entrepreneurs and students in Dehradun and listen to their views.

It is worth mentioning here that the state finance minister Prakash Pant has already shown his intention for such a budget where on new tax or cess would be burdened on people.
