Governor Dr.K.K.Paul said here today that the social and economic development of a nation is possible only through women empowerment. It is very important to encourage women education, said the Governor while addressing an award function “Daughters of Uttarakhand” organized by local daily Garhwal Post where women were honoured for excellence in various spheres.
Congratulated the award winners Dr Paul said that they were role models for society and their success would inspire others. Uttarakhand had a tradition of women empowerment,Compared to many other states, the literacy rate of women here was far better.
Dr Paul said that there was need for improving the condition of women health in the hill areas of the state and the government was working on this. He said tele-medicine was being used now in the state.
