A Congress MLA and Ex-Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly Govind Singh Kunjwal alleged the State government has been intentionally ignoring Gairsain and not added even an inch since inception of Trivendra singh Rawat led BJP regime in March 2017. Whatever structure you are seeing here, were made during the Harish Rawat led congress regime. Initially he had planned to make official press conference but due to technical reason he could not convene such conference so he talked with available media person on way to house of the vidhan sabha.
He claimed that the previous Congress Government in the State had strived hard to make Gairsain the permanent State capital. Talking to the media persons ahead of second day of winter session, kunjwal said that during winter Session of Assembly the employees and police personnel faced maximum inconvenience due to the poor arrangements for them.
Terming the provision of Rs 10 crore made in the supplementary Budget 2017-18 as meagre to meet the actual requirement while the Congress government had earmarked Rs 115 crore for the Assembly building. During congress regime, then Chief Minister Harish Rawat had constituted Gairsain development authority (GDA) to develop a modern township at Gairsain.
