Cheque for Rs one lakh each as loan at two percent interest rate were disbursed among 5176 farmers of the Haridwar district by the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and State cooperatives Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat at Roorkee. The loan was distributed under the Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Sahkari Kisan Kalyan Yojana.
Addressing to the farmers, CM Rawat said that in the past, he had promised in this very region that the State Government would bring such a scheme which benefits small farmers and enables them to do any work related to farming. That promise has been fulfilled with the distribution of loan.
If good results received with this scheme, the loan amount limit for farmers under the scheme will be raised in the future, he said. Stating that farmers can make a big contribution in the development of the state, he exhorted them to adopt various small agricultural works and contribute to the State’s development and to increasing the nation’s GDP. He advised the farmers to also take up the cultivation of bamboo.
He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to double the income of the farmers.The State Minister of cooperative, Dhan Singh Rawat said that under the scheme, the State Government had so far provided Rs one lakh loan each to 43,000 farmers at 2% interest rate in the State.
