if you think that income tax department serve notice to individual and private companies only then you are wrong here because this time they have served noticed to the government departments, which have failed to deposit Tax deduction scheme (TDS) money, and freeze their account with immediate effect.
In which Uttarakhand secretariat, irrigation and PWD depratments and other institutions working under the guidance of state government and union government too. With this action officials, who are allegedly responsible for delay, are under pressure and busy in completing their procedure to de-freeze their account. If this continues then department would not be able to disburse the payment of ongoing construction work and next months salary too.
I Tax (TDS) Abid Ali said that these institutions and department have failed to deposit TDS money for the last six to seven years. They deducted TDS from salary, contractor payment and housing rent too. Other institutions have failed to submit their return. In view of this I Tax department has prepared a list of the departments, which are having maximum TDS dues, and freeze their account and even asked the treasury not to clear their bill unless and until they get clearance from IT department.
Their names are irrigation division Chamoli (Rs 2.91 crore), AIIMS Rishikesh (Rs 2.75 crore), PWD (Rs 5.02 crore) , Engineer Liasion officer (Rs 1.95 crore); MDDA Rs 1.94 crore; Comptroller office, Pantnagar Rs 1.44 crore, State Secretariat Rs 1.41 crore; irrigation including minor and macro Rs 2.38 crore; uttarakahand jal sansthan Rs 92.79 lakh, LBSNAA, Rs 91.59 lakh.
