Monsoon delayed, likely to hit Uttarakhand by Jun 25

The southwest monsoon is likely to hit the state by June 25, the Meterological Centre at Dehradun has predicted. Earlier, the forecast for the arrival of the monsoon was June 21.

Director, Met Centre, Bikram Singh said,  “Monsoon has reached Bihar but is yet to cover the entire state. It appears that the southwest monsoon has been delayed by four to five days in Uttarakhand. The IMD centre will announce the forecast for the arrival of monsoon.”

Singh said that normal rainfall had been predicted which was good news for the farmers. He said that the days-long delay was not “major” and was not a cause of worry. Singh said that the the state was witnessing pre-monsoon showers. The Met office had predicted rain in the state for a period of three days starting June 19.
