23 year old shot dead in a parking lot in Noida sector 62

A 23-year-old woman employee of a mobile handset company was shot dead by an unidentified person at Shatabdi Rail Vihar, a residential society in Noida Sector 62, on Wednesday morning.

Police said CCTV cameras recorded footage of Anjali Rathour, a trainee engineer with Lava International Limited, being chased by a pistol-wielding man at a parking lot of the apartment complex around 6.34 am. However, poor video quality has prevented police from zeroing in on the murderer so far.

Anjali hailed from Jagadhri, near Yamuna Nagar, in Haryana.

The matter came to light when her roommate, Jyoti, noticed people crowding around a still body on the ground floor. Though she and four others rushed Anjali to the nearby Fortis hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Anjali hailed from Jagadhri near Yamuna Nagar in Haryana. She graduated from Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar in 2016.

The incident took place at 6.34 am in the parking lot of the society. The CCTV camera installed near the elevators captured the scene, but the man has not been identified due to the hazy footage.
Anjali’s kin registered an FIR against Ashwani, a Lajpat Nagar resident, soon after their arrival in Noida later that afternoon.

Police said Anjali had received a call from Ashwani at 6.05 am, about half an hour before the murder.
Ashwani, who hails from Etawah, first met the victim at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar. “I was pursuing my MBA at LPU when Anjali was still a student there. That was how I chanced upon him with Anjali. I warned Ashwani against meeting her again. He had been behaving aggressively since then,” said Kamini Bhadoria, Anjali’s aunt.

However, superintendent of police (city) Arun Singh reiterated that they were yet to zero in on a suspect.

“Anjali was heard quarrelling over the phone for the last one week. She came down from her apartment that morning after receiving a call from Ashwani. But we are not (completely) certain if the assailant was him or somebody else.”
