Uttarakhand Guest teachers threaten of agitation from June 1

Guest teachers in the state are planning to go on an indefinite protest from June 1, expressing their happiness over weightage system introduced by the government on May 16 for temporary teaching jobs and demanding revision of the decision.
According to guest teachers, the order states that teachers having a minimum 6 months of teaching experience will get a weightage of 3%, and those having more than one-year of experience will get 5% weightage when they apply for temporary teaching jobs.
Guest teachers claimed that the weightage was ‘negligible’, which the government should revise.

Harish Arya, vice-president, Uttarakhand Guest Teachers’ Association, said, “We have been urging the government to revise the order, but nothing has been. Since the formation of the new government, we have been trying to seek job security, but no concrete action is being taken. This has forced us to intensify our protest.”

They also staged a dharna outside the education directorate on Monday in this context.
