In view of thousands of people being expected to attend the Nagar Parikarma as part of the ongoing Jhanda Mela on March 19, Dehradun police have drafted a traffic plan to keep traffic smooth on the roads. Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sweety Aggarwal said that the routes of the city buses and the Vikrams have been diverted. Traffic will move normally when Nagar Parikarma begins from Darbar Sahib, marching towards Saharanpur Chowk. When the religious procession goes to Kanwali Road from Saharanpur Chowk the vehicles going from Balliwala to Saharanpur Chowk will follow the route as Lakshman Chowk to Bhusa Store and then to Saharanpur.
There will be no diversion when the religious procession will go towards SGRR from Purushotam Chowk.
When the procession goes Chakrata Road to Tilak Road the one- way traffic system will be enforced from Clock Tower to Bindal and vehicles coming from Ballupur Chowk for Clock Tower will go towards Cantt. When the Nagar Parikarma reaches Clock Tower the vehicles will follow the route as Globe Chowk, Pacific Hotel crossing, Lansdowne Chowk and Darshan Lal Chowk. Vehicles coming from Bindal for Darshanlal Chowk will be diverted towards Oriental Chowk. Dehradun SP Traffic DS Gunjyal said that there would be no vehicular movements from Darshanlal Chowk to Clock Tower when the Nagar Parikarma reaches Clock Tower. When the religious procession will go towards Lakkar Mandi from Lakhibagh Chowk the vehicles going towards Saharanpur Chowk to Prince Chowk will be allowed periodically after putting the religious procession on hold. When the religious procession goes Saharanpur from Bhandari Bagh the vehicles going towards Patelnagar from Prince Chowk will be diverted to Bhandari Bagh via Gaughat.
