After a gap of six years the management of world famous Jhanda fair has chosen a new mast for the Jhandaji (flag). The mast of the holy flag which flutters at the Darbar Sahib- the sanctum sanctrum of Udasin sect founded by Guru Ram Rai- is made up of a huge log of Sal tree.

The devotees had selected a 90 feet long tree and many artists were deployed to prepare the holy mast at Shri Guru Ram Rai (SGRR) Inter College, Mothrowala.

A special ceremony was organised to bring the massive mast to Darbar sahib on Tuesday.

Large numbers of devotees (Sangat) left from Shri Darbar Sahib in the morning to SGRR inter college Mothorowala.  The Sangat raised slogans amidst rhythm of Dhol beats.  Many people had gathered to welcome the devotees on the route.

At SGRR Inter College, Mahant Devendra Dass blessed the Sangat. In his address he said that the Jhanda fair delivers a message of love, peace, harmony, brotherhood, faith and humanity.  He said that people of all religions reach to take the divine blessings of Shri Maharaj ji in the fair and like every year, this year also the fair will be celebrated with utmost enthusiasm and faith.

The Sangat then offered special prayers to the new holy flag pole.  The mast of the flag was then lifted on shoulders by the Sangat devotees on foot and then marched to i Darbar Sahib. The Sangat carrying the mast meandered through Mothrowala to Banjarawala, Kargi Chowk, Pathri Bagh, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Lal Pul, Saharanpur Chowk and then finally reached Shri Darbar Sahib. The new mast would be covered with many covers of cloths and would be hoisted on the day of Jhanda Fair.
