The women’s wing of Cheetah Police which would be launched in Dehradun on international women day i.e. March 8, would be followed in other districts too. This was disclosed by the state director general of police MA Ganapathy.

District police heads have been directed to appoint at least one woman sub-inspector or inspector as the police station in-charge or police post in-charge. He exhorted the women police personnel to come forward to take up responsible posting of in-charge of police posts and police stations.

Although sources said that the women sub-inspectors/inspectors are not very eager to take charge of police stations and police posts as the in-charges.

During interaction a woman sub-inspector said “True we are not willing because we, generally, have to take care of the domestic chores aside from discharging our official responsibilities. If we take up postings of station or post in-charges we have to spend around the whole day on duty, something that would deter us from taking care of our children and the elderly. However, if the department agrees to provide us with residential facilities, attendants and the like we might be interested.
