Uttarakhand Becomes First State to Implement UCC : CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride in Uttarakhand becoming the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Speaking about the landmark achievement, the Chief Minister credited the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this historic step.

CM Dhami highlighted that the Prime Minister had previously expressed his strong support for UCC during his address in the Rajya Sabha, where he emphasized that the Uniform Civil Code reflects the sentiments of the Constituent Assembly members. The Chief Minister said, “This vision has now been given a concrete shape by our government, making it a proud moment for all residents of Uttarakhand.”

He further stated that the implementation of UCC in the state is not only a tribute to the ideals of the Constitution but also a significant step towards ensuring equality and harmony in society. CM Dhami reaffirmed that the UCC aligns with the principles of justice and uniformity across personal laws, covering issues like marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption.

The Chief Minister also noted that this historic move underscores Uttarakhand’s commitment to progressive reforms and its role as a trailblazer among Indian states. He thanked the people of the state for their support and assured them that the government would continue to work for the betterment of society and the preservation of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage.

With the implementation of UCC, Uttarakhand has set an example for other states, becoming a symbol of unity and progress under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
