CM Dhami Honors Cycling Medalists, Inspects Arrangements at National Games

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored medalists of the cycling competition at the 38th National Games, held at the Shivalik Velodrome in Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium. He awarded gold medals to the Services Sports Control Board, silver medals to Punjab, and bronze medals to Rajasthan in the men’s team pursuit 4000-meter race, adorning them with medals and traditional Pahadi caps.

The Chief Minister also cycled on the velodrome track and interacted with players, boosting their morale. He later had lunch with the athletes and inquired about the facilities, with players expressing satisfaction over the arrangements. CM Dhami highlighted that about 20,000 people are contributing directly and indirectly to these National Games, making it a proud moment for Uttarakhand.

Since the games’ inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 28 in Dehradun, an atmosphere of enthusiasm has prevailed across the state. The Chief Minister shared that over 30 medals have already been won by Uttarakhand players, showcasing their improved performance. He praised the state’s world-class velodrome and other facilities like multipurpose halls and upcoming competitions in Khatima and Tanakpur, such as Malkhamb and rafting.

CM Dhami emphasized that the National Games are an inspiration for Uttarakhand’s youth, motivating them to excel in sports. He mentioned that the grand closing ceremony, to be held on February 14 in Haldwani, will be graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Shotgun and Skeet competition at the 46th Battalion PAC, performing a ribbon-cutting ceremony and even trying his hand at shooting.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLAs, ministers, administrative officers, and sports association officials, alongside players and spectators, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship in Uttarakhand.
