Modi Promises Bold Decisions in Third Term, Citing “Modi’s Guarantee” for India’s Future

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a triumphant address following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) emergence as the largest single party in the recent Lok Sabha elections, assured the nation of bold decision-making in the government’s third term. Despite falling short of an outright majority, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comfortably secured a governing mandate with 293 seats.

Speaking to jubilant party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Modi emphasized the strength of India’s democracy. “In the third term, the country will write new chapters of big decisions, and it’s Modi’s Guarantee,” he declared. “Our victory is the win of the world’s biggest democracy.”

Modi began his speech with a homage to Lord Jagannath, reflecting the BJP’s significant gains in Odisha, where it claimed 19 of 21 Lok Sabha seats. This victory underscored the public’s continued faith in the BJP and the NDA, he said.

The BJP won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha, with the NDA collectively securing 293 seats, surpassing the majority mark of 273. However, discussions are set to take place with key allies such as Chandrababu Naidu (TDP) and Nitish Kumar (JD(U)) to finalize the new government’s structure. These leaders are expected to negotiate significant roles and reforms in the coalition government.

Modi touted the NDA’s track record of development and governance as a “guarantee” that resonated with voters across the nation. “In 2024, with this guarantee, we went to every corner of the country to seek people’s blessings. Today, I bow down with humility to the blessings that NDA has received for the third time,” he stated.

Highlighting the historic nature of the NDA’s victory, Modi noted that it was the first time since 1962 that a government had been given a third consecutive term. “This unbreakable bond of trust with the people is the biggest strength of democracy,” he said, adding that the support from voters fuels the government’s enthusiasm and resolve.

Addressing the country’s future, Modi emphasized the NDA’s commitment to poverty eradication and economic growth. “The NDA will not stop until poverty is eliminated, and India becomes the world’s third-biggest economy. We must hit hard on corruption if we want to move ahead,” he asserted, describing the anti-corruption fight as increasingly tough.

Modi also took a swipe at the opposition, which had characterized the BJP’s performance as a “moral defeat.” He pointed out that the opposition coalition did not win as many seats as the BJP alone. The Prime Minister also celebrated the BJP’s strong performances in state elections across Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, and near clean sweeps in several states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

“This is the victory of the world’s largest democracy…of unwavering loyalty to the Constitution of India. This is the victory of the promise of a developed India and the victory of the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” Modi declared, reaffirming his commitment to inclusivity and development.

Expressing gratitude to NDA partners and acknowledging the pivotal roles of TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, Modi emphasized the coalition’s collective strength and commitment to empowerment. He also extended special thanks to women voters, reflecting on the emotional significance of this election, his first major political test following his mother’s passing in 2022.

As Modi prepares to lead India for a third term, the nation watches closely to see how his promised bold decisions and governance style will shape the country’s future.
